Position Summary:
The Assistant Store Manager assists the Store Manager with overseeing the Bakery Associates as well as functioning as a Senior Bakery Associate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Have input on store display
• Learn basic knowledge of the specialty order process
• Greets customers in a pleasant and helpful manner
• Must be familiar with all baked goods available and offer suggestions, if applicable
• Answers questions about food ingredients, cake designs and baked goods
• Refer special orders, such as wedding cakes or extremely large orders to Store Manager or Production Manager when applicable
• Operates POS (Clover) efficiently for orders and purchases
• Ensure bakery trays and showcases are filled and arranged in an attractive manner
• Advise Store Manager of any items that are low in display case
• Obtain correct information for phone orders and ask customer if they would like to prepay. Read back order to customer to ensure information is accurate
• Clean up of any spills on counter top or floor must be handled immediately after sales transaction
• Must be aware and adhere to ServSafe food safety practices/procedures at all times
• Must maintain a presentable appearance and practice excellent personal hygiene
• Adheres to all policies and procedures per Serpe’s Employee Handbook
• May perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
• Follows time reporting system for recording hours worked

Additional Duties and Responsibilities of the Senior Bakery Associate:
• Opens/Closes the Bakery as assigned
• Ensures all orders are packed in a timely manner
• Available to provide leadership as necessary to other Bakery Associates
• Can be assigned to provide training to new hires
• Authorized to open/close registers, perform an overring on the registers, perform a “no sale” on the register, close out orders on the registers, and load gift cards on the registers
• Communicates with Store Manager or Production Manager to notify Office Staff when registers are low on change or need a cash pull
• May perform other job-related duties on an additional authorization scale as assigned by Store Manager or General Manager
• Fill-in if Store Manager is out sick or on vacation

Required Skills and Ability:
• Must have weekend availability
• Possess the technical ability necessary to learn and operate POS machine
• Must have the desire to work with the public
• Must be able to endure hours of standing and walking
• Must be able to lift 35lbs, and occasionally lift up to 50lbs.
• Basic computer skills required
• Excellent communication skills

Education and Experience:
• High School Diploma/GED required
• Must have previous retail environment experience
